Six trains were also cancelled, and the New Jalpaiguri-New Delhi Superfast Express was rescheduled. The Kanchanjunga Express, which was delayed by eight hours, arrived at its destination, Sealdah, in the early hours of June 18th. Passengers were provided with medical facilities, food, and water at various stations during their journey. The State's transport department provided buses and vehicles to passengers at Sealdah station to help them reach their homes. Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the central government for alleged negligence towards Railways and its failure to take action following the accident. The Kanchanjunga Express runs between Silchar in Assam and Sealdah in Kolkata.
